The Partnership to Address Violence through Education (P.A.V.E.) recently completed a Leadership Camp for students in Cranston schools. Under the direction of Lt. John Reis, director of PA.V.E. and a retired Providence Police officer, he and his staff and volunteers facilitated sessions on bullying, responding to bullying situations, cyber safety and preparing students for entry into middle school. Pictured in the bottom row, from left, are Adriana Wilson, Ebony Wilson, Michael Arena, Joel Taglianetti and Zachary Terceiro. Top row from left are Brittany Wilson (counselor), Chad Silvia, Stephen Imondi (counselor), Abby Shideler, Lucille Dean (counselor), Jocelyn Santiago, Lauren Knasin, Lt. John Reis, Dante Russo, Griffin Mason, Daniel Ruggiero and Jacob Sicco. The camp was held at the Kent County YMCA, where participants were challenged with low and high ropes courses to promote teamwork and build self-confidence. The week’s activities included swimming, boating, archery, field games, a relay race, scavenger hunt and visits to the water park. Sixteen youth attended, and P.A.V.E. plans to offer camps during the upcoming school year’s April vacation and summer sessions for 2012 as well. For more information about P.A.V.E. and its programs, contact Operations Director Susan Taglianetti at 946-7280.
