Recently, several Cranston businesses took part in Stand Up For Animals, an event held to benefit the Providence Animal Rescue League at the Comedy Connection.
The event included a “yappy” hour and a pet fashion show by Park Avenue Puppy’s, which spotlighted donated dog “bling” from Swarovski of Cranston. Approximately $5,000 was raised to benefit the rescue league.
Organized by Alysha Fraser, owner of Furry Friends in Cranston, the evening also featured a series of standup comics. Furry Friends is a pet babysitting and walking service that also runs an online store selling pet products and toys.
Selling the most tickets to Stand Up For Animals was the Williams & Stuart Real Estate Company located on Oaklawn Avenue.
The Providence Animal Rescue League houses over 2,500 of the state’s homeless animals each year.
