The 33rd annual Eastern State Youth to Youth Conference will kick off at Bryant University on Thursday. The four-day conference focuses on engaging teens "through meaningful activities and experiences to develop and implement their own ideas to create positive change."

As explained by East Greenwich town drug counselor Bob Houghtaling, the conference is not only an opportunity for young people to learn how to become community leaders among their peers and set a healthy, positive example on how to respond to societal pressures regarding alcohol and all other drugs, but also provides access to a multitude of resources that help them become better leaders through various workshops and trainings.

The conference is expected to bring at least 650 kids to the Smithfield campus from all over the state, all over New England and even across the country. Registration begins at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
