7 DAYS IN ENTEBBE
* * *
Based on the true events of the 1976 hijacking of an Air France plane by Palestinian terrorists (or are they “Freedom Fighters?), the movie is at times intense and at times bland.
Action switches back and forth from the planning of the hijacking to the reactions of the Israeli leaders to little vignettes about some of the people involved and their reasons for being involved. Graphics are overused to point out the locations and the seven days it took for “negotiations” to begin between the Palestinians and the Israelis and the actual events, as a plan is launched to rescue the passengers.
As often is the case, we forget the events of the past, and movies are a good way to remind us. Closing credits also remind us that to this day negotiations have never taken place.
Rated PG-13 with violence and profanity.
