On Saturday, May 7, the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation held its annual Our Heroes Fashion Show at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet.
Themed “A Night at the Races,” the event was held in conjunction with the running of the Kentucky Derby. Many wore their finest derby hats to the event, and Bonnie Stuart won best hat for the evening.
A total of 21 survivors took to the runway in fashions by Botticelli, Carl Anthony Tuxedo, Off Broadway Shoes, Franklin Rogers Ltd., Teddy Bearskins, and Sonya’s of Cranston. The evening featured a cocktail hour, raffles, dinner by Russell Morin Fine Catering, the fashion show, and dancing.
Featured runway models and breast cancer survivors from Cranston were Diane Brady, Gail Ciresi-Sylvia, Joan R. Coken, Maria Pomoranski, and sisters Joanna Susin and Rosamary Susin.
The master of ceremonies for the evening was John Dowd Jr. from Sirius XM, and emcees were Philip Marlow from Philip Marlow Productions and WCTK-Cat Country and Michaela Johnson from “The Rhode Show.”
The event was a sellout, with approximately 500 in attendance.
