Barbara R. (Galvin) Burke, 81, of Cranston passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Kent Regency. She was the wife of the late Donald E. Burke, Sr.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Mary L. (Hannigan) Galvin. Mrs. Burke was a founding member of St. Gregory The Great Parish in Warwick.
She was the beloved mother of Mary L. Burke (Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Bryant University) of Cranston and Donald E. Burke, Jr. (W.F.D. Ret.) and his wife Margaret of East Greenwich. Loving grandmother of Tyler, Molly, Morgan and Abigail Burke. She was the cherished sister of Ellen Thompson of Hollywood, Florida and the late Vincent Galvin and Dorothy Archibald.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 9:00 am from The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Gregory The Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
