To the Editor:
New Jersey Governor Christie is coming to town. New Jersey Governor Christie is coming to town.
No, that’s not Paul Revere crying out, it’s Allan Fung, failed Cranston Public Safety Commissioner and current mayor, trying to jump start his flagging gubernatorial campaign. Fung may have invited Christie because of the affinity that they share with each other. You know, Christie’s Bridge-Gate and Fung’s Ticket-Gate … deny, deny, deny and hope the voters believe your spin.
Fung and Christie also share another affinity. They are each spear-carriers for the Republican far-right’s war on unions. They each advocate for right-to-work laws that will eviscerate both public sector and private sector unions. Perhaps you aren’t on board with the issues facing Rhode Island’s public employee unions, but you may be a father or mother employed as a union carpenter, union electrician, union plumber, union iron worker or other related union trades. If Rhode Island passes a right-to-work law, you will most likely be forced to accept much lower wages, lower health insurance and other benefit packages or even lay-offs.
So now you have the skinny on Allan Fung. Now you know where Allan Fung stands on the issues that makes a difference in our lives.
