The Cranston High School West Alumni Association’s inaugural event took place on Friday night, Aug. 22 at the Thirsty Beaver in Cranston.

The establishment is owned by West alumni, and 15 percent of the evening’s proceeds from 6 p.m. on went to the association.

One of the alums and the co-organizer of the event, David DiMaio, estimated that more than 100 alumni attended, with between 75 and 80 signing in throughout the evening.

He estimated that over $1,000 was collected for the association, with sales from the raffle baskets totaling $485.

Total sales from the evening totaling approximately $4,000, with approximately $600 of that going to the association.

There were many familiar faces at the event, including Mayor Allan Fung, state Sen. Hanna Gallo, City Councilman Michael Farina and West Principal Tom Barbieri.
