CLCF 9’s bow out at regional

After winning the state title, the CLCF 9-year-old all stars ran into some tough competition and went two-and-out at the New England regional in Hebron, Conn., over the weekend.
CLCF lost a close one in its first game to Berwick, Maine, 5-2. That set up a meeting with perennial powerhouse Newtown, Conn., in the losers’ bracket and Newtown pulled away from CLCF for a 14-4 victory.
The summer was still a success for the team, though, and the future looks bright.
“The kids had a great time,” said coach John DeRuosi. “It was a learning experience. They saw what it takes to compete in a regional. They’re looking forward to hopefully being back at the regional level in the future.”
