On Saturday June 21, Sports Heroes won the Cranston Western Little League AAA Division Championship with a 12-10 win over the 99 Restaurant team. The Sports Heroes team finished the regular season with a 9-5 record and advanced to the championship game with a 13-3 win over Charles Scrap Metal and a 7-4 win over Calvino Law. In the championship game, after taking an early 4-1 lead and then falling behind 5-4, Sports Heroes took a 12-8 lead going into the final inning. The gritty 99 Restaurant team would not let up though, scoring two additional runs before Sports Heroes eventually retired the side with the bases loaded to win the championship.
