CCAP, Seabra help families for Thanksgiving

Seabra Supermarket on Pontiac Avenue is partnering with Comprehensive Community Action Program (CCAP) to help 300 local Cranston families enjoy Thanksgiving dinner. Bins are located in Seabra where customers can donate non-perishable food items. Walgreens Pharmacy, an additional community partner, has generously donated 300 bags which CCAP will fill with food for Thanksgiving dinner. Canned items that are helpful include soup, vegetables, yams, corn, cranberry sauce, green beans, fruit, pumpkin and cake frosting. Boxed items that are needed include quick bread mix, stuffing mix, pie crust and cake mix. Also helpful are $10 gift cards to local markets so families may purchase a turkey. If going shopping is not possible, monetary donations are accepted, and CCAP will do the shopping. Please contact our Development Department at 562-8353 or infoDEV@comcap.org for more information.

Meeting Street School holiday cards

With four festive themes sure to help Rhode Islanders spread holiday cheer among family and friends, Meeting Street’s annual holiday card sale not only makes it easy to get a jump on sending merry wishes this season, it’s also a great way to support the organization’s wide range of educational and therapeutic services.

From now through Dec. 19 Meeting Street is accepting orders for its annual holiday cards with the proceeds directly supporting its work to remain a national leader in child development, education, research and training.

Featuring four cards designed exclusively by Meeting Street students – a winter bear, string of lights, ornaments, and snowmen – the cards come in packages of 15 for $15. There is also a variety pack available that includes four cards of each design. A discount of 10 percent will be applied to all purchases of 500 or more cards. One hundred percent of proceeds go directly to Meeting Street, thanks to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island, which once again donated the printing of the holiday cards.

Cards may be ordered online at www.meetingstreet.org or by completing an order form and returning it by fax to 533-9101 or by mail to Meeting Street, 1000 Eddy St., Providence, RI 02905. Order forms may also be found on the Meeting Street website, or by calling the school at 533-9100 to request one by mail.

Meeting Street accepts cash, check and all major credit cards as payment. You may also add a custom imprint in the cards and on the envelopes for an additional fee.

Anyone with questions or seeking additional information about the holiday card sale may contact Ashley DeSimone at 533-9230 or via email at adesimone@meetingstreet.org.
