Cranston’s R.I. Rays 11U AAU baseball club was invited to and won the USSSA (United States Specialty Sports Association) Baseball New England Super NIT, which took place from May 1-3, in North Branford, Conn. The team also got invited to play in a national tournament at ESPN’s Wide World Of Sports in Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. in August.
After being down 11-5 in the championship game, the Rays scored nine runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 14-11 lead over the Connecticut Braves to win the championship. The Rays played teams from Conn., Mass., N.Y. and N.J.
