The Cranston Co-op boys’ hockey team struggled to the tune of a 2-16 record in the Championship Division over the winter, but that certainly wasn’t due to the goaltending of D.J. DeAngelis.
DeAngelis emerged as one of the top goaltenders in the state’s top division during his sophomore season, turning aside 485 shots – more than 30 shots per game – the most of any goalie in the Championship Division.
He also posted an .893 save percentage and a 3.76 goals against average.
The Falcons scored just 16 goals in 18 games during league play, but DeAngelis made many games manageable with his standout goaltending.
For his efforts, he earned a First Team All-Division nod. DeAngelis will serve as the foundation of Cranston’s team as a junior come next season.
