Donald G. Mercurio, 76, of Warwick died on April 30 at Greenwood Center after a brief and courageous battle with illness. He is survived by Florence (Coutu) Mercurio, his wife of 52 years.

He was the son of the late Victor and Hazel (Lunan) Mercurio of Providence. Donald was employed by CBS Records/Sony Music/BMG Music Entertainment for 36 years and served in the role of sales representative and manager of the corporation's Northeast regional office. A highly skilled negotiator, Donald was named the company's "Sales Representative of the Year" an unprecedented four times.

Donald served in leadership and coaching roles in both the Warwick Soccer Association and the Warwick Firefighters Soccer Association during the formative years of each organization's existence. He brought his passion for competition and love of coaching to Bishop Hendricken High School in 1984, becoming both the assistant boys' varsity soccer coach and boys' junior varsity soccer head coach. During his successful twelve year coaching tenure, he continually preached the importance of demonstrating respect for "The Pride of Hendricken". A passionate sportsman and fisherman, Donald found some of the most profound joy and satisfaction of his life entertaining and fishing on Narragansett Bay with family and friends aboard the various manifestations of his boat, "Dad's Mistress".

Besides his wife Florence, he is survived by his son Victor D. Mercurio, and his wife, Colleen (Cimino) Mercurio of Saunderstown and his daughter, Debra (Mercurio) Lapointe and her husband, Christopher Lapointe of Saunderstown.
