Frozen yogurt comes to Pawtuxet Village

Posted

Pawtuxet Village has everything to meet your foodie needs: Italian, Chinese, Thai, American, Irish, French, fresh backed good, soups, salads, pizza, and ice cream.

Tony Doan has decided to top off the choices with the opening of Froyo World, a frozen yogurt franchise that is sweeping the Northeast. This is Tony’s second store, the first being in Seekonk

“I visited a friend’s store near the Yale campus and decided that this would be a good investment,” he said.

Judging by opening day last week he made a good decision, as the line never stopped, helped by a steady flow of families on their annual Halloween walk.

We did the usual sampling of a dozen flavors, then chose to grab a cup and fill up on our favorite yogurts and toppings. Tony says the flavors change every month, as do some of the 80 varieties of toppings. You serve yourself, and there is always a staff member on hand to help…and clean up after you.

There are two sorbets for those who are lactose intolerant, plus ingredients and allergy possibilities listed on every flavor, including one with no sugar added.

While we have never met a frozen yogurt flavor we didn’t like, Joyce favored the Peanut Butter Brownie, while I liked something called Original Tart. The kids favored the candy toppings, while we went for the fresh fruit and nuts.

Froyo World is a nice addition to the Cranston/Warwick area. It is convenient, squeaky clean and reasonable at 49 cents an ounce. For $5 of $6 you can build a good-size dessert. There are a few seats by the large picture window or you can take out.

Froyo World is located at 2160 Broad St. in the heart of Pawtuxet Village. They are open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Their phone number is 781-2151.
