John J. DeMaula

-, 43, of Cranston passed away February 21, 2013 at home.

Born in Providence, he was a beloved son of Louis DeMaula of Cranston and the late Lorraine D. (DelRicco) DeMaula. John was hired by the City of Cranston in 2005 as a skilled laborer and was promoted to the position of Recycling Coordinator in 2008. He was a graduate of Our Lady of Providence Preparatory Seminary High School. He received his Associate in Science Degree, concentrating in Law Enforcement, with High Honors from CCRI in 2001. He was active in the National Youth Sports Program at CCRI and received the Special Appreciation Award.

He was the loving brother of Robert L. DeMaula and his wife, Kim of Cranston. Cherished nephew and cousin.

His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. from The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday from 5-7 p.m.

I was very sorry to read of his passing. In 2007/2008, I was corresponding with him about the Recycling Program for Cranston and what a wonderful job he did for our City and the Future of Cranston. He made a difference in the short time he was here. My prayers for strength and peace are sent to his family and friends.
