A Cranston man has been charged with possession of child pornography following a state and federal investigation.
Andrew J. Smith, 52, of 1 Stacey Drive, was arraigned in Third Division District Court last week and released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail.
He was ordered to have no contact with children under the age of 18 and to not use the Internet.
According to Rhode Island State Police, the arrest came after the Computer Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force was contacted by the FBI in September regarding an ongoing, multi-state investigation into the trading of images and video of child pornography online.
