NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

A Public Hearing on the following proposed Ordinances as amended will be held before the City Council on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 7:00 pm., Council Chamber, 869 Park Avenue Cranston, R.I. pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Charter.

“Individuals requesting interpreter services for the deaf or hard of hearing must notify the City Clerk’s Office at 461-1000 ext. 3197 seventy-two (72) hours in advance of the hearing date.”

PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 5-16-05 IN AMENDMENT OF TITLE 2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CRANSTON, 2005, ENTITLED “ADMINISTRATION AND PERSONNEL” (Arts Commission)

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

SECTION 1. Title 2.54.020 entitled “Arts Commission” is hereby amended as follows:

2.54.02 Members—Terms

The arts commission shall consist of nine members seven appointed by the City Council and two appointed by the Administration. The arts commission shall contain at least five members,* and three alternates appointed by the City Council, from a broad spectrum of citizens representing the performing arts, music, drama, the visual arts, literary arts and the fields of structural and landscape architecture. All members of the commission must reside in the City of Cranston. *The Artist Exchange shall have one seat on the Commission as ex-officio. or work for an arts organization based in Cranston. The appointees shall have 3 year terms. All members of the commission may vote on any matter coming before the arts commission, except as the Ethics Laws of the State of Rhode Island may provide. After a member had three consecutive absences without adequate reason, the commission may remove that member. Should a member be removed, the City Council will make a new appointment.

SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption.
