NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

A Public Hearing on the following proposed Ordinances will be held before the Ordinance Committee on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. City Council Chambers, 869 Park Avenue, Cranston, R.I. pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Charter.

PROPOSED ORDINANCE 02-17-01 N AMENDMENT OF TITLE 10, CHAPTER 4, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CRANSTON, 2005, ENTITLED “VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC” (Penalty for Overnight Parking)

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

Section 1. Chapter 10.28.090 entitled “All night parking prohibited” is hereby amended as follows:

10.28.090 - All night parking prohibited.

It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to park the same on any street for a period of time longer than two hours between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. of any day. In the event of said violation, the Municipal Judge hearing the action shall be vested with the judicial discretion to dismiss the ticket(s) or impose or waive the court costs in lieu of the payment of the ticket(s) fine based upon the severity of the violation before the court, the violator’s history of overnight parking incidents and or prior warnings issued. In no instance shall the court cost(s) imposed by the Municipal Judge be less than Twenty ($20.00) Dollars or more than Thirty-Nine ($39.00) Dollars per offense.

Section 2: Chapter 10.04.030 entitled “Penalties for Traffic Violations” is hereby amended as follows:

Offense: All night parking from 1 a.m.to 7 a.m. to be assessed with or without court costs assessed based upon judicial discretion as set forth in 10.28.090. Fine $25.00

Section 3: This Ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption.

PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 2-17-02 N AMENDMENT OF TITLE 10, CHAPTER 32 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CRANSTON, 2005, ENTITLED “MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC”

(Knight Street – Two Hour Parking)

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

Section 1. Chapter 10.32, Section .660 entitled “Two Hour Parking-Between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.-Monday through Friday” is hereby amended by adding the following:

Knight Street, north side, in front of the premises numbered 11 Knight Street to its intersection with Cranston Street.

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption.
