A Public Hearing will be heard before the Safety Services & Licenses Committee on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Cranston Council Chambers, City Hall, 869 Park Avenue, City Hall, Cranston, R.I. pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Charter on the following proposed Ordinance.

IN AMENDMENT OF TITLE 5 CHAPTER 44 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CRANSTON, 2005, ENTITLED “BUSINESS LICENSES AND REGULATIONS”

(Itinerant Food Vendors)

The proposed Ordinance seeks to establish appropriate rules and regulations that are not unduly burdensome and complex for itinerant food vendors while simultaneously seeking to protect the health, safety and general welfare of the community.

The proposed Ordinances sets forth definitions, an annual permit fee of $250.00, and limits the number issued, as well as establishing penalties for violations as well as enforcement provisions. It also sets forth the requirements for applying and renewing for a Mobile Food Truck Permit and the specific information that must be submitted.

It also creates a Mobile Food Trucks Committee to work in conjunction with State agencies to create appropriate zones for the location and operation of food trucks and facilitate the application and permitting process.
