December is the month when houses, businesses, schools and pretty much any other building that stands still gets decorated with some sort of holiday embellishment.
In that vein, Oaklawn Library is hosting a “Get Crafty” weekly craft program.
“It runs every day that we’re open and there will be a new craft each week through December 20,” said branch librarian Stefanie Blankenship.
Children so far have made candy cane reindeer, and this week they will make candy cane mice. Each week is a new craft.
The library is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“What is nice about these crafts is the kids get to use their imaginations, and can create the crafts, name them and take them home with them to be part of their family’s decorations for the holidays,” Blankenship said. “Plus, it is a drop-in program, so parents don’t have to worry about trying to make it for a specific time.”
