WARRANTS

Officer Christine Bolduc reported she was investigating an accident at New London Avenue and Chapel View Boulevard around 5:15 p.m. Jan. 17 when she learned that one of the drivers involved had an outstanding warrant out of North Providence for domestic assault, domestic disorderly and domestic vandalism. He said she had dispatch verify that the warrant was still active and then arrested Douglas A. Pettis, 60, of 8 Beta Court in North Providence. He was taken to headquarters, processed and then held for North Providence Police.

Officer Jason Dagnese reported he stopped a car for doing 38 in a 30 miles per hour zone on Atwood Avenue around 9:15 p.m. Jan. 19 and learned the driver had an outstanding warrant for a larceny charge. Steven Emilio Sabitoni, 46, of 120 Kingwood Ave. in Cranston, was arrested and held for arraignment at headquarters. A friend came to get the car off the road.

Officer James Needham reported he was on patrol behind the Senior Center on Cranston Street around 1 p.m. when he saw two men digging through a large commercial dumpster there. He said he questioned the men and they explained that they were out of work and collecting scrap metal to make some money. He said he warned them to stay out of the dumpster because of liability concerns. He said he ran the names of the two men and one of then came back with an active warrant out of Newport for receiving stolen goods. Bradley W. Cruz, 24, of 48 Chestnut Hill Ave. in Cranston was taken to headquarters where he was processed and then held for arraignment at the ACI.

ALIAS SHOPLIFTING

Officer Daryl Fish reported he went to the Wal-Mart store on Plainfield Pike around 2:15 p.m. Jan. 17 for a shoplifter that refused to stop for loss prevention personnel and was walking toward the Hess Gas station. He said he saw the suspect and asked her where she was coming from. He said she admitted she had stolen candy from the Wal-Mart and pointed to her purse, which she said contained a bag of Twizzlers and other assorted candy. He said she also admitted she tried to take several bags of clothes out of the store without paying for them. He said he opened the rear door of the cruiser to keep her there because she said she had no identification on her. She said her name was Kerri Iacifao, but Fish said he was sure she was lying and asked her for her “real name.” He said her answer was “Sarah Ali” and then “Alli.” She then managed to slip her hand out of the left cuff, kick him in the knee and get out of the cruiser, but he still had her right hand under control and, after a few struggles, she was back inside the car. He said a loss prevention agent arrived on the scene and identified her as the woman he saw fill various totes with merchandise in the store before she tried to leave without paying for the goods. He said the total amount of merchandise recovered was worth $498.73. He said she admitted on the way to headquarters that her real name was Sarah Iaciofano, but Fish said he was still not convinced she was telling the truth, so he ran cross-agency checks at headquarters and a photo that came for her did not match her appearance. He said they then used a possible name of Tiffany M. Iaciofano, 29, of 90 Pine St. in Woonsocket, and that photo matched the woman he had in custody. Fish said Tiffany had a prior for a domestic charge out of Pawtucket. She was charged with shoplifting, assault, obstructing an officer and resisting arrest. She was later released on $1,000 surety bail.
