Police: Man brandished knife in Quik Mart heist

A suspect is being sought in connection with an armed robbery at the Quik Mart at 164 Park Ave. in Cranston on May 1.

Police say the suspect – described as a white male standing between 5 feet, 7 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a stocky build and wearing a dark jacket, pants and shoes with a hood on his head – entered the store just before noon, displayed a small knife and demanded money.

The man is said to have then fled west on Park Avenue with an undetermined amount of cash.

The suspect was also wearing a baseball cap with a New Era “59 FIFTY” sticker on its bill, police said, and had drawn the hood closely around his face.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts is asked to contact Cranston police at 401-942-2211, ext. 5066. Detective John Ryan is investigating.

Police: Counterfeit $20 passed at pizza place

Cranston police are attempting to identify two men after a counterfeit bill was passed at Little Caesars Pizza on April 8.

Police report that two black male suspects entered the establishment, located at 763 Reservoir Ave., and presented a counterfeit $20 bill. The bill was confirmed counterfeit by U.S. Secret Service. Police say it is believed that these suspects may be involved in other similar incidents.

Police are requesting that anyone with information regarding the suspects or their whereabouts to call 401-477-5096. Detective Paul Bessette is investigating the case.

Window smashed, cash stolen in Cranston break-in

Cranston police are attempting to identify a suspect who broke into the Subway restaurant and V.I.P. Nails at 300 Park Ave. early on the morning of May 8.

According to police, the suspect is seen on surveillance video throwing a large rock through the front window of the businesses and entering while carrying a crowbar. The suspect then obtained several hundred dollars from the Subway and exited through the front door.

The suspect is described as standing approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build. At the time of the crime the suspect wore dark clothing, a mask and gloves.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the suspect or their whereabouts to call 401-942-2211, ext. 5065. Detective Joseph Hopkins is investigating the case.

Suspect sought in theft of wallet, fraudulent credit card use

Cranston police are working to identify a suspect in the theft of cash and fraudulent use of a credit card at Staples and McDonald’s.

According to police, the victim purchased items at Staples on March 20 and accidentally left his wallet at the cash register. Surveillance video then shows the suspect taking the wallet and paying for merchandise using the victim’s money. At the time, the suspect was accompanied by a female with bleached blonde hair, police said.

At 7:48 p.m. that night, the victim’s credit card was fraudulently used for a purchase at the McDonald’s on Reservoir Avenue.

The suspect is described as a white male with a medium build, dark hair and a gray/white striped shirt. He was seen operating a black four-door vehicle, possibly a Ford Fusion.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or location is asked to contact police at 401-477-5041. Detective David Tirrell is investigating.
