Rhodes on the Pawtuxet celebrated its 100th anniversary on Aug. 18 with a night of food, music and dancing. Local favorites such as the Tommy Rotando Ensemble, Mike Dutra & The Strictly Sinatra Orchestra, Dixieland Pops, Mike Renzi Group with Bob Mainelli, Calamari Brothers, and Bombay Jim & The Swinging Sapphires performed at the event, which doubled as a benefit for The Children’s Dyslexia Center of Rhode Island and the Providence Federation of Musicians. Photographs and other items from the past century were on display throughout the evening. Cranston Mayor Allan Fung was on hand to present a proclamation from the city honoring the occasion to members of the Rhode Island Shriners Board of Trustees, including treasurer A. Sheffield Reynolds, secretary Gordon Martin Jr., chairman John K. Takian Jr., vice chairman James Marszalek, and assistant treasurer Edward Calamar Jr.
