The Cranston High School East Thunderbolt Marching Band, under the direction of Gregory Arsenault, and the Emerald Encore recently hosted the annual Invitational Home Show at the Cranston Stadium.

The event featured 11 of New England’s best high school marching bands, including Cranston East, Dartmouth, Blackstone-Millville, King Philip, Dennis-Yarmouth, Westerly, Somerset-Berkley, Bishop Feehan, Oliver Ames, and North Attleboro.

The Thunderbolts performed at the conclusion of the competition and took the field to present their 2016 field show “Aqua.”

Bands competed in a variety of divisions. The highest scoring team was Dartmouth High School in Division V Open with an overall score of 91.225. The name of their program was “Into the Light of Spring.”

A large crowd enjoyed the music and food, and many tried their luck at the 50/50 raffle, which raised approximately $350. Other revenue was raised through admission and food and treats from the Cranston East Café.

The event culminated with an exhibition by the Boston University Marching Band and the presentation of awards.
