Santa's story

Posted

‘Twas the eve of Christmas And all through the night,

Every Wise Man & woman had been drawn by his light.

They had followed a Star in search of a King,

While innkeepers tarried, and Angels took wing.

Then solemn and holy lay tiny a King

Who forever more, would make the world sing.

He wore neither a crown, nor jewels or a cape,

But was bundled in swaddling all wrapped up like tape.

Now Jesus was there ‘fore I was invented,

But a gift I’d bring, neither bought nor rented.

I’d kneel down, let him tickle my beard,

Round and round we’d swing, for nothing he feared.

I’d let him ride Blitzin and pull on his horn,

What a joyous day when Jesus was born!

Angels and trumpets blared out his coming,

Little girls and boys played music and drumming.

But many children lost sight of that magical star,

They hustled and bustled by sleigh and by car.

They decked the trees and lit all the lights,

Argued and bickered and got into fights.

They lost sight of the message of that little child

Who brought us peace, love, and mercy mild.

So Santa shows up all decked out in red,

I return each year while you sleep in your bed.

Toys and goodies I bring, joy, laughter and mirth,

Yet, nothing am I but for Jesus’ birth.

The reindeer are cute and I am so jolly,

And who can forget the wreath and the holly?

Oh, leave me the cookies, and whisper your wishes,

I’ll return each year if you wash all the dishes.

But don’t lose sight of that first Christmas morn’,

When God gave us his Son and Jesus was born.

The King of Peace, that babe in a manger,

Who protects us all from darkness and danger.

Peace, love, and joy is for what he stands,

For- giving not getting, is what he demands,

And if you should ever forget of his reign

A reminder is found in Santa’s sweet cane.
