(Slow sequel to upcoming Part 2)

Let’s hope Part 2, which is supposedly about the big revolution, is better than Part 1, which is a bit slow and boring.

We actually enjoyed “The Hunger Games” and praised Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, one strong and brave young lady who proved to be a positive role model for the girls of District 12, plus the ones who flocked to the movies to see her. Katniss spends most of her time in “Mockingjay” pouting, shedding tears, being manipulated by her handlers, and pining for her captured love, Peeta.

The movie opens where “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” ended. Panem is in pandemonium, and many blame Katniss.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman, to whom the film is dedicated, plays the conniving Plutarch, using Katniss as a symbol of the upcoming revolution, manipulating her and the District 13 President (Julianne Moore) to lead the revolution against the nasty President Snow (Donald Sutherland).

There are some pointed shots taken at the media as a weapon to cause chaos, stirring up the people to rise against evil and restore democracy to the world.

And then there’s Peeta, love of Katniss’ life. Has he gone over to the other side or has he been brainwashed by President Snow? And is Katniss oblivious to the guy who really loves her?

You’ll have to wait until next year to find out.

Rated PG-13, for some battle scenes and violence.
