“Saturday Night Live” actors were pumping out bad movies 20 years ago. Their latest was “Tommy Boy” starring Chris Farley and David Spade. The one surprise was Bo Derek emerging from a swimming pool and being declared a “10.”

Johnny Depp starred as a suicidal, delusional schizophrenic in a weird movie, “Don Juan Demarco.”

Liam Neeson starred in “Rob Roy,” about the young leader of a group of Highlanders fighting for survival in Scotland in the early 1700s. Now he’s playing an old action hero.

Sandra Bullock starred in “While You Were Sleeping,” a charming romantic comedy. Leonardo DiCaprio starred in “The Basketball Diaries.”

Healey’s Seafood on West Shore Road in Warwick had shucked oysters for $6 a pint. Cherrystones in Oakland Beach (now Top of the Bay) had Easter brunch for $12.95.

Remember Captain Nemo’s Sandwich Shop in the Meadowbrook Plaza, famous for their “Nuclear Subs?”

How about Joe Glynn and The Irish Mist? They used to play at Warwick’s Harp and Shamrock on Warwick Ave.

Rhode Island College presented “My Fair Lady.” URI had “Romeo and Juliet.” CCRI did The Arkansaw Bear.” The Communiy Players presented a musical review, “Where Were You When the Bombs Fell,” commemorating the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Goodspeed Opera House premiered “Honkey Tonk Highway.”

Two big hits of the Cajun and Bluegrass Festival in Escoheag, Ranch Romance and The Austin Lounge Lizards, performed at the Holy Ghost Hall in East Providence.

Conductor Zuohang Chen led the RI Philharmonic in a noontime concert at Vets. Open seating tickets were $5.

Roger Williams Park Zoo had two first-time births: a babirusa (wild swine) and Rock Hyrax (tailless woodchuck). Admission to the zoo was $4, $2.50 for children.
