Thunderbolt Invitational

ATLANTIS: The Cranston High School East Marching Band and Emerald Encore performed their award-winning program “Atlantis” during the event.

PRESENTATION: Cranston East Band Director Mark Colozzi thanks and presents flowers to event coordinator Sue Halvarson, who is seen with her son, Eric.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: Performing the national anthem was Briana Stuart, a senior at Cranston High School East and a member of the Emerald Encore.

AWARDS: The Cranston East Thunderbolt Marching Band received first place in the II Open Division during the invitational. Pictured are Drum Major John Zambarano, Color Guard Captain Nghi Ho and Drum Major Mollie Bourne.

Eleven marching bands participated in the 2014 Cranston High School East Thunderbolt Invitational marching band competition on Oct. 18 at Cranston Stadium. Cranston High School West also performed an exhibition prior to intermission. The stands were full of families and friends from across New England. Participating bands from Massachusetts were Bishop Feehan High School, Somerset-Berkley Regional High School, Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, King Philip Regional High School, Dartmouth High School and Blackstone-Millville Regional High School, while bands from Connecticut were Killingly High School and East Lyme High School. In addition to Cranston East and West, Portsmouth High School represented Rhode Island.
