Acting Chief Kevin M. Barry of the Cranston Police Department has announced that two Cranston police recruits have successfully graduated from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy and will be added to the current ranks of the department.

Officer Daniel Jimenez-Garcia of Providence and Officer Russell C. Henry III of Cranston graduated at a ceremony Friday morning at the Community College of Rhode Island’s Flanagan Campus.

Jimenez-Garcia recited the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics on behalf of his recruit class, stating, “I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith, and I accept it as a public trust to be held so long as I am true to the ethics of the police service.”

Following the graduation ceremony, Jimenez-Garcia and Henry took an oath administered by Mayor Allan W. Fung at a ceremony held at Cranston City Hall.

“I am proud to have these two new officers join our fine department so that they may begin their law enforcement careers on behalf of the residents of Cranston,” the mayor said. “Officers Jimenez-Garcia and Henry represent the newest ranks in the department and with their additions, I know the Cranston Police Department has an even brighter future ahead.”

Henry was presented with his new badge from his father, Lt. Russell C. Henry Jr., a distinguished veteran of the Cranston Police Department.

Jimenez-Garcia and Henry will work with an assigned field training officer and began their first shift on Tuesday.
