Benefits of eating ice cream

Whether it’s a hot summer day or a cold winter night, ice cream will always lighten your mood. Even the most deliciously baked cake could not compare to the effect of ice cream, for young and old alike. Is ice cream good for you? You bet! Our “surprise presenters” will explain the five benefits of eating this delicious treat.

A Matter of Balance: A Fall Prevention Program

Mondays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.Beginning Friday, Sept. 16, ending Oct. 14Who should attend? Anyone concerned about falls; anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility, and strength; anyone who has fallen in the past; and anyone who has restricted activities because of falling concerns. Upon successfully completing this program, each participant will receive a two-month, free membership to the YMCA and a gift certificate. Space is limited. Since this is a very popular program, register early by calling 401-780-6000.

There is something for everyone –cycling, bocce, bowling, billiards, horseshoes, mind games, field events, and more. Registration forms are available at the Cranston Senior Enrichment Center, 1070 Cranston St., or call 401-780-6000 to have one mailed. You can also download a form at cranstonri.com. Please note not all sports are being played on Sept. 17. See registration form for dates and times of each event.
