William M. “Bill” Battison, 92, of Warwick, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of Jane L. (DuVally) Battison, they had been married for 68 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Thomas and Nellie (Williams) Battison. He resided in Providence until moving to Warwick in 2010. Mr. Battison was a personnel director with Wells Fargo Security for many years before retiring. He was a World War II Army Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart and various other metals, a member of the DAV and a communicant of St. Michael’s Church.

Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Peggy Stephenson of Cranston and Beth Gwillim of East Providence; two sons, Andrew Battison of Bristol and William Battison of Warwick; a sister, Jean Carson in Georgia; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late John T. Battison, PFD (Ret.) and brother of the late Mary Conlon.

His funeral was held Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. from the Prata-Gallogly Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Oxford St., Providence. Interment followed with military honors in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
