On Sunday, Ward 3 City Councilman John Donegan and the Cranston Historical Society hosted the inaugural Ward 3 tree lighting ceremony during Sprague Mansion’s Holiday Open House. Grace Swinski of the Cranston Family Center was also involved in the event.
The Bain Middle School Chorus kicked off the event with Christmas songs, followed by welcoming remarks from Donegan and the lighting of the tree. Snow began to fall, making the evening magical for children of all ages.
Refreshments were donated by the parent groups from Bain, Arlington, Gladstone and Stadium schools and were available in the Sprague Mansion’s Carriage House.
Other sponsors included Mike’s Tree Farm, which donated the tree, as well as Durfee’s Hardware, Falvey Linen, Webster Bank, the Cranston YMCA, Washington Trust, the Cranston Health Equity Zone Initiative and OneCranston.
