‘Ice Abstractions’ photography exhibit

The Cranston Public Library has announced an art exhibit by photographer Aaron Usher III will be hosted in the James T. Giles Community Room exhibit space at the Central Library, 140 Sockanosset Cross Road, in February.

Usher’s black and white photographs explore the intricate patterns seen when viewing frozen ice up close. An opening reception for the exhibit, and an opportunity to network with the artist, will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 5-7:30 p.m. The reception is open to the public.

Usher is a commercial photographer who specializes mainly in architectural and interior photography. His work has been published in more than 330 books, magazines and websites.

“This collection started as ‘a means to escape’ other facets of my work that tend to be rigid and precise,” Usher said. “The [ice] abstractions allowed my mind’s eye to roam wildly in a space approximately 6-12 inches in front of me. I started seeing and feeling the images as they unfolded.”

This exhibit will be available for viewing Feb. 2 to Feb. 26 during regular library hours. For more information, visit aaronusher.com. ‘Inquiring Minds Want to Know’ at CHSE
