City inauguration set for Jan. 7

The City Council will hold a special meeting Monday, January 7 at the Michael Traficante Senior Enrichment Center on Cranston Street starting at 7 p.m. where 16 people will take the oath of office to serve the citizens of Cranston.

Taking the oath for the final time, due to term limits, will be Citywide Councilman, Democrat Steve Stycos and Council Vice President, Republican from Ward 6 representative, Michael Favicchio.

New faces on the City Council will be from Ward 1, Democrat Lammis Vargas and Ward 3 Democrat, John Donegan. Returning to the Council are Democrat Paul McAuley from Ward 2, Republican Ed Brady Ward 4 and Republican Chris Paplauskas from Ward 5, and Citywide representatives Republicans Ken Hopkins and Council President Michael Farina round out this term’s members.

Making her political debut for Ward 1 for School Committee is Sara Tindall-Woodman. Stephanie Culhane retained her seat for Ward 2 as an unopposed candidate. Ward 3 is Paul Archetto, Vincent Turchetta returns as Ward 4 representative, from Ward 5 is Committee Chair Janice Ruggieri, Dan Wall continues in Ward 6 and Citywide representative is Michael Traficante.

Others who will be installed include City Municipal Judges, Chief Judge Matthew Smith, Senior Associate Judge Raymond Coia, Associate Judges Melissa Larsen, Robert A. Ragosta and Frank Saccoccio.

Ted Westcott will continue on as the Harbormaster, City Registar is still Nicholas Lima, and Maria Wall will stay on as City Clerk.
