If you love food, you’ll feel right at home in Cranston.
That’s according to Zumper, a San Francisco-based company that provides online resources for apartment hunters, which ranked Cranston 91st on its list of the nation’s “Best Cities for Foodies.”
The list includes 600 cities and is based on an analysis of all U.S. communities with a population of at least 60,000, according to Zumper. Rhode Island’s capital city, Providence, ranks 10th on the list.
Zumper used four criteria in evaluating the cities for its rankings. Cranston was ranked 478th in terms of percentage of income used for rent costs, 261st for the number of restaurants per capita, 51st for the number of bars per capita and 64th for the average Yelp rating of dining establishments.
Providence, by contrast, ranked 571st for rental costs but topped Cranston in the other three criteria. It ranked 14th for restaurants per capita, 12th for bars per capita and 31st in terms of Yelp reviews.
Portland, Oregon, tops the Zumper list, followed by Portland, Maine, and Seattle, Washington. Ashville, North Carolina, and New Orleans, Louisiana, rank fourth and fifth, respectively.
Rounding out the top 10 are San Francisco, California; Honolulu, Hawaii; Beverly Hills, California; and Costa Mesa, California.
