Councilwoman-elect gets into the giving spirit

Posted

On Wednesday December 19, Ward 1 Councilwoman elect, Lammis Vargas along with Taryn Gilchrist dropped off over 100 new, unwrapped toys to CCAP that were collected from ten different drop-off sites located throughout the Pawtuxet Village and Edgewood areas.

Locations included; Fellini Pizzeria, Lovely Nails Spa, JP Spoon em’s, Edgewood Cheese Shop, Revolution, Poco Loco, Cork & Brew, Little Falls Cafe & Bakery, Village Laundry and Cleaners and Bagel Express who also graciously donated the hot cocoa during the Santa visit.

As a special treat for the children, Vargas arranged for two Cranston fire trucks, the Cranston Police K-9 and Santa and Mrs. Claus to visit on Saturday, December 15 at Cork & Brew.

“Citywide Councilman Ken Hopkins also stopped by to donate some toys. This event was held to do a last push for toys to ensure all children have a gift to open. I also walked around the village with Mrs. Claus thanking the businesses for their participation and working with me to give back to our community,” said Vargas.

As her first term is about to start, Vargas wanted to make sure everyone knows how much she appreciates their support to help the children.

“Thank you to our community, local businesses, Cranston Fire Department, Cranston Police and everyone who helped with this great cause. During these tough economics times placing a smile on children’s faces and warming the hearts of families is what it’s all about. When we come together a lot can get accomplished,“ said Vargas.
