Cranston resident, Michelle Parenteau, owner and lead designer for Michelle Lee Designs in Johnston, held an Art Opening called “Occupied Circles” at the Cranston Public Library on Feb. 4. The display will remain at the library, located at 140 Sockanosset Cross Rd., through Feb. 28 and all paintings are up for sale.

She sold 3 out of 24 abstract paintings at her opening reception. Approximately 40 people attended the Opening.

“I put my heart and soul into these paintings and I wanted to connect to people’s emotions and it meant a lot that many people took time out to attending the opening,” said Parenteau.

Parenteau has worked on interior design projects for commercial and residential clients across the country.

She graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and started her interior design company in 2004. Her playful use of color and texture is seen both in her design work and in her paintings. Michelle has explored various styles of painting ranging from mixed media, acrylics, chalk paint, pastels and collaging. With her versatility, she can create unique personalized pieces of art for many of her clients. She has also been featured in many galleries throughout Rhode Island.

Her art instructor, Claudia Venditto of Blue Door Studio, also attending the opening, stated she was vert proud of Parenteau’s work.
