The Rhode Island Library Association and its sections, the Rhode Island Coalition of Library Advocates and School Librarians of Rhode Island, presented their annual awards at the RILA Annual Conference, which was held on Wednesday, May 22, and Thursday, May 23, at Bryant University.
The RILA 2019 Award winners include Heidi Blais, who received a Mini Grant to fund an “Explore the World Virtually” project at Cranston High School East; and Sue Rose, library program supervisor for Cranston Public Schools, who received the Linda Aldrich Leadership Award.
The Leadership Award honors the life of Linda Aldrich, who was library media specialist at Bristol High School and vice-chairperson of the Middletown School Committee when she died in 1989.
“[Aldrich] was admired and respected because she believed and advocated that being active and involved was the essence of life,” reads a description from RILA. “The award is given to someone who brings these qualities to the library profession.”
