Cranston Relay for Life raises $32K to fight cancer

Posted

The Cranston Relay for Life was held this past weekend at the Tate Field at Bain Middle School to benefit the American Cancer Society. Approximately 21 teams with 121 participants took part in the overnight Relay, with each team having at least one walker on the track at all times. Combined, these teams raised approximately $32,000 this year.

Each year, the Relay for Life is held to both celebrate cancer survivors as well as remember those who had lost their battle. Sixty-seven cancer survivors registered for the Cranston event. Relay for Life began in 1985 in Tacoma, Wash., and has become a worldwide movement to end cancer. (Herald photos by Steve Popiel)
