Tessitore installed as 91st commodore of RI Yacht Club

David Tessitore, of Warwick, was sworn-in as the 91st Commodore of The Rhode Island Yacht Club at its 144th Installation of the Officers & Board of Directors, per tradition on January 1st.

Sue Toland of Rumford was installed as Vice Commodore and Dean Scanlon of Warwick as Rear Commodore. Other officers for the 2019 term are Mark Gallagher, Secretary, of Norton, MA; and Phil Perut, Treasurer, of Warwick.

The Club also appointed nine members to its Board of Directors: Michael Katz. Fleet Captain, of Warwick; Al Coleman, Fleet Surgeon, of N.Attleboro, MA; Jack Smith, House Chair, of Warwick; Roderick Machado, Jr. Activities Chair, of Riverside; Owen Haren, Librarian, of Norton, MA; Holly Natale, Membership Chair, of Cranston; Dave Saunders, Race Chair, of Cranston; Richard Magnant, Social Chair, of Bellingham, MA; and Brad Shipp, Ways and Means, of Cranston.

The Rhode Island Yacht Club was established in 1875 to encourage yachting, yacht building, seamanship and advancement of navigation and nautical science. RIYC continues to maintain a clubhouse and anchorage facilities for the recreation and use of its members at its original location on Stillhouse Cove in the city of Cranston.
