The New England First Amendment Coalition will present its ongoing community conversation, “First Amendment and the Free Press,” from 7-8:30 p.m. on June 17 at the Central Library in the James T. Giles Community Room.

This event is free and open to the public. Speakers include Lynn Arditi, Jared A. Goldstein, John Kostrzewa and Amanda Milkovits.

Arditi joined The Public’s Radio, Rhode Island’s NPR affiliate, after more than three decades as a reporter, including 28 years at the Providence Journal.

She has covered a variety of beats, most recently health care. She has worked as a staff writer for The Center for Investigative Reporting and as a reporter for the former Holyoke Transcript-Telegram.

Goldstein teaches constitutional law and an array of environmental law courses at the Roger Williams University School of Law. He regularly publishes in top law journals and because of his nationally recognized expertise, he has authored numerous briefs in the Supreme Court of the United States.

Milkovits is a reporter at the Boston Globe. She previously work at the Providence Journal, where she covered crime and justice stories starting in 2000. She has won recognition and awards for articles about high-profile issues including sex trafficking, gang slayings and the impact of gun violence. She has been a daily reporter for more than 20 years.

Kostrzewa, who will moderate the event, joined the staff of the Providence Journal in 1988 and has covered the region’s financial institutions, general business stories and small business issues. He was named business editor in 1997. Kostrzewa graduated from the College of the Holy Cross and began his journalism career at the Lawrence (Mass.) Eagle-Tribune.
