Gala at Cranston Country Club to benefit RI homeless, impoverished

Posted

The Rhode Island Dream Center will host their “Night of Dreams” fundraiser on Sept. 28 at the Cranston Country Club with cocktail hour beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner served at 7 p.m.

They are raising funds for their Winter Survival Back Pack Program for the impoverished and homeless.

“Our ‘Night of Dreams’ fundraiser is so important to our homeless brothers and sisters,” said Artie Russo, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Dream Center.

The Rhode Island Dream Center certainly needs as much help as possible providing the most durable back packs they can afford because these back packs are out in the cold, and heat, rain and snow, wind and storm.

“They are invaluable to the person living on the street,” Russo continued. “This will be our 12th year of providing fully stocked Winter Survival Back Packs for our Homeless brothers and sisters and their families. Knowing that the backpack is one of the most helpful items a person living on the street can carry, in many cases, it also is the only thing they carry. Their whole lives are inside these backpacks. So, it is with great fulfillment that we provide something that valuable and helpful to those in need.”

Gala tickets are $40 and are now available now available at www.ridreamcenter.com.

The special guest emcee will be comedian Rhonda Corey with special guest author & speaker Michael Cooley and a special guest dinner entertainer, Kalifornia Karl. The gala will also include a silent auction, raffles and an evening of fun.

“This is a special night of hearing from a great speaker, Michael Cooley, who has lived the life and fought his way back from, ‘The Streets to Success,’ the name of the book he authored. Mike’s story will raise the hair on your arms and bring a smile to your face as he provides a very real situation of what it is like to be homeless,” said Russo.

Russo added, “This is a night of smiles as Comedian Rhonda Corey will keep you laughing as the Guest Emcee. We even have the colorful Kalifornia Karl as the musical guest DJ. Our hosts at Cranston Country Club, will have an incredible meal for everyone as well as a great atmosphere. Also planned is our world-famous raffle with awesome prizes that will rock you and a World Class ‘Sports Legends Silent Auction.’ All to help those in the cold.”

The Rhode Island Dream Center is located at l 330 Park Ave. in Cranston and is a registered 501c3 since 2011.

“Each year, we work hard to raise the money we need to be able to provide these back packs and so ‘A Night of Dreams’ was born,” said Russo.
