Gasoline prices in Rhode Island remain the same this week, according to AAA Northeast.

AAA Northeast’s October 15 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.84 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is five cents below the national average of $2.89. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 24 cents lower at $2.60 per gallon.

“Consumer gasoline demand across the country has declined for a third week,” said Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs. “Gas prices may be signaling that they are taking a turn toward slowly decreasing.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 40 cents, from a low of $2.69 to a high of $3.09.
