Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are up two cents this week, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA Northeast’s June 25 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.95 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is 11 cents above the national average of $2.84. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 68 cents lower at $2.27 per gallon.
“An increase in crude oil production was announced at last week’s OPEC meeting, at least 600,000 barrels per day,” said Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs. “It is yet to be determined whether or not the increase in production will be enough to dramatically reduce gasoline prices. In the U.S., pump prices will not immediately be impacted.”
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 40 cents, from a low of $2.79 to a high of $3.19.
