Anna Casador-Saccoccio has opened a new consignment shop in Cranston, Eric’s Way Thrift Spot, with all proceeds going to support the Eric Medeiros Memorial Foundation.
The shop, located at 471 Atwood Ave., is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Eric’s Way Thrift Shop and the Eric Medeiros Memorial Foundation are named for Anna’s son, who passed away in October 2007 after a car accident in which he sustained a traumatic brain injury.
“It’s been something I have been wanting to do for a long time, to add another revenue stream to our foundation fundraising efforts,” Casador-Saccoccio said. “That way we can help even more people and other needs that people reach out to us for during though times.”
Eric’s Way Thrift Spot offers new and gently used items, including clothing for men, women and children, shoes, accessories, toys, books, décor, kitchen items and gowns for special occasions and proms. It accepts donations, which are tax deductible, and does not purchase any items.
The shop does not accept items such as mattresses, weapons, auto parts, food and large appliances. It will, however, be selling small furniture such as dressers, hutches and bookcases.
“I wanted to be smart economically. I already have been at this location for a few years with my AMC Permanent Cosmetics Studio,” Casador-Saccoccio said. “Wanted to share the space with my foundation. Now it’s perfect for Eric’s Way Thrift Spot.”
The Eric Medeiros Memorial Foundation provides emergency aid for displaced families and holiday meals for families in need. It also supports other nonprofits, including MAE Organization for the Homeless, the Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island, the Friends of Homeless Animals of Rhode Island, the CCAP food pantry, the St. Croix Animal Rescue, the Sunshine Foundation and the Queen Louise Home for Children of St. Croix.
