Hilario-inspired products to support RI Food Bank

Mario Hilario is well known as an anchor for NBC 10 WJAR – and, to many, for the “Mmmmm’s” he’s offered after tasting dishes from Chef Frank Terranova during the “Sunday Brunch” segment.

When Hilario, a Cranston resident, first found out that his well-known comment was appearing on apparel and accessories, he contacted the company who designed them – Parched, a Providence-based graphic design and screen painting company.

“They focus on designs that are Rhode Island related and recognizable, so I was flattered it ended up on one of their T-shirts,” Hilario said.

Recently, Hilario took part in a special signing event for “Mmmmm”-inspired products at Barrington Books Retold in Garden City Center. He signed items that visitors purchased – approximately 60 mugs, more than 60 T-shirts, roughly 25 tote bags and 10 aprons.

“I didn’t know about the line until a co-worker saw the shirts at PVD Fest and purchased one for me,” said Hilario. “I reached out to the owners of Parched and said I was happy to be one of their product lines but also wanted to try to help a good cause.”

He added: “Now through the end of the year, 25 percent of proceeds from the sale of ‘Mmmmm’ products is going to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. I thought that was a fitting recipient since the shirt is all about my love of food.”

The “Mmmmm” products are available for purchase at Barrington Books, and the “Mmmmm” mug is exclusive to Barrington Books Retold.
