Joseph Normand Gagner

Joseph Normand Gagner, age 85, of Ruskin Street, Cranston, passed away at home on Saturday, July 28, 2018. He was the husband of Judy A. (Lemerick) Gagner.

Born in Johnston, the son of the late Joseph R. and Jeanette (LaPorte) Gagner, he lived in Cranston for the last 20 years. Mr. Gagner retired in 1978 as a Chief Petty Officer with the U.S. Coast Guard after 20 years of active duty service. He previously served as a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Gagner was later employed as a driver for Arrow Limousine Co. in Warwick for 18 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Dora-Lys “Dody” Ruben of Johnston, three step-children, Susan L. Goodby of Warwick, Joanne Torem of Cranston, and Matthew J. Storer of Cranston, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Joseph R. Gagnier and Gary Gagner.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, August 2, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Garden Hills Drive, Cranston. Visiting hours were on Wednesday, August 1st. Burial with military honors were held in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
