St. George Maronite Catholic Church in Cranston will kick off its third annual Lebanese Festival on Friday beginning at 4 p.m.
“We’re expecting thousands to gather and enjoy authentic Lebanese cuisine that will be prepared by dozens of parishioners,” Tony Simon said.
However, the three-day event will include much, much more than food.
In keeping with tradition, the festival – which will be housed under a big top that’s being set up at 1493 Cranston St. on the grounds of the former St. Ann’s Church – will include a variety of raffles, live entertainment, children’s games and activities, and beer, liquor, and wine. It will be held rain or shine.
“Every year our festival continues to grow thanks to the support of the community,” Simon said. “We look forward to welcoming guests for a fun weekend of delicious food and entertainment … Our parishioners have been preparing all year for the festival and we promise to deliver a great time by all.”
The menu will include Lebanon’s national dish, baked kibbee –which is a meat dish mixed with traditional Lebanese spices and cracked wheat – along with kafta and other items.
There’s no admission fee for the festival, which will run from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
