4th Annual Brian Moretti Hockey Classic set for Saturday

Posted

The 4th Annual Brian Moretti Hockey Classic will be played this Saturday at 4 p.m. at Cranston Ice Rink.

The classic has been a much-anticipated event in Cranston’s hockey community since its inception in 2014.

Moretti, who starred on the ice at Cranston West and Johnson & Wales, passed away suddenly in March 2014 at the age of 26.

Moretti’s good friend and now Cranston Co-op boys’ hockey head coach Matt Brannon had the idea back in 2014 to hold an annual hockey game in Moretti’s honor, and the proposal took off.

On a select day in May for each of the past three years, Moretti’s family and friends have packed Cranston Ice Rink to remember him.

Just like the past three years, Saturday’s game rosters will be comprised of West alumni, in addition to Moretti’s youth and Johnson & Wales teammates. The puck will drop at 4 p.m., and admission is $5.

Dean Perdikakis, Ed Brady, John Curley, Kyle O’Connor, Joe Simeone, Craig Houle, Brannon, Adam Lupino, Adam Frew, Tyler Bickford, Richard Aitchison, Michael Soscia, Greg Coletti, Stephen Pheiffer, Nick Pirolli, Mike Coletta, Shane Poulin, Richard Iacobucci and Joe Spagnoli will play on the white team.

The red team will be made up of Matthew Collins, Jason Imondi, John Caparelli, Brian White, Connor Moore, Patrick McCarty, Justin Lundh, Anthony Simeone, Ryan Perry, Erik Trahen, James Tomaselli, Corey Tobey, Kyle Sacco, Chris Luzier, Nick Sczerbinski, Mike Imondi, Ryan Bedetta, James Lang, Chris Tasca, Kyle Izzo and Anthony Lancellotti.

In addition to the game, there will be a silent auction and raffle prizes, as well.
